Astro Camp for kids 2026: inspiring Africa’s future space cadets
The city of Agadir hosted the first edition of Astro Camp for Kids 2026, organised by the Moroccan Association for Space Studies (MASS) from 5 – 9 May 2026.
The event brought together children, educators, scientists, astronomy communicators, and space enthusiasts for an inspiring week dedicated to astronomy, science, technology, and innovation.
Astro Camp for Kids 2026 was designed to introduce young students to the fascinating world of space through interactive workshops, educational activities, scientific discussions, coding sessions, and robotics experiences.
Throughout the camp, participants explored different aspects of astronomy and space science while developing creativity, curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the camp was the interaction between the children, the future space cadets of Africa, and passionate scientists, science communicators, astronomy educators, and STEM mentors.
These exchanges created a motivating and dynamic learning environment where students were encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and imagine future careers in astronomy, engineering, robotics, coding, and scientific research.
African Science Stars was proudly represented during the event by its ambassador, Kaoutar Saadi, who actively contributed to the outreach activities and inspired young participants through her passion for astronomy and science education.
Her participation highlighted the importance of mentorship, youth engagement, and scientific outreach in encouraging the next generation of African scientists, researchers, and innovators.
The presence of young African scientists and communicators throughout the camp demonstrated the growing importance of initiatives that connect students with role models actively involved in research, education, and science communication.
Such programs help children understand that science is accessible to everyone and that they can also become future leaders in STEM fields.

The enthusiasm, excitement, and curiosity shown by the children during the camp clearly reflected the importance of creating more scientific initiatives for young people across Africa.
Programs like Astro Camp for Kids play a vital role in inspiring future generations, strengthening scientific culture, and encouraging children to dream beyond limitations while discovering the endless possibilities offered by science and technology.
The success of this first edition marks an important step toward promoting astronomy education and youth empowerment in Africa.
It also opens the door for future editions that could welcome even more children from different African countries, creating opportunities for scientific learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange among future innovators and space enthusiasts.
More than just a scientific camp, Astro Camp for Kids 2026 was an inspiring experience that encouraged children to look toward the stars with ambition, curiosity, and hope for the future.
